Training is essential, with professional qualifications available at various levels. The best qualified, and ultimately best paid jobs are for those who train and work as physiotherapists - this is a three year degree course that includes lots of practical work, but also a deep understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
Entry to these courses would therefore require A Levels, typically including Biology. For masseur training the demands are not so stringent, although a GCSE in biology would certainly be an advantage.
Positions can be found in hospitals, complementary clinics, with sports clubs and sports teams, and of course as a self-employed practitioner.
