Reception jobs

People working in reception jobs perform a vital role in any organization or business. You are, in may cases, the public face of the company, usually the first person that customers see, and as such can set the tone for the whole experience for customers and clients.

This means that reception and concierge jobs are not for everyone - it is essential that you are comfortable working with the public, able to work with a smile on your face any time, day or night.

In addition to great customer service skills, you will also need a variety of other abilities. Most of these positions involve handling money, so good basic maths skills will be needed.

This is also a position that involves helping people, whatever they need. Local knowledge is a huge advantage, as you are the person that guest will turn to when they have questions or need recommendations about services available in the local area.

You will also need to be able to handle pressure - it is inevitable that there will be peaks and troughs through your shift, with several guests arriving and departing at the same time, and all wanting your attention.
