Temporary Jobs
Why would you take a temporary job? There are actually many benefits to temporary jobs, good reason to consider temporary jobs if you are currently out of work:
- They are a great way to make money
- They are ideal for students, or anyone who has classes during the evening or at weekends
- They are a great way to strengthen your resum?
- They are an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a particular field or industry - this can put you in a prime position when a full time position becomes available
- They are a great way to acquire new skills or polish your existing skills
- They are a good way to learn professional software in a low-pressure environment
- They can lead to permanent positions - if you are in a temporary job, your boss or manager will be evaluating your work, your skills, personality, friendliness, work ethic, and so on. It is not uncommon for temporary positions to turn into something more permanent, particularly when a worker has impressed people.
- They are a good way to meet people in the industry - these could later be people who are in a position to hire you in another company
- They are a good way to sample different career options - many people don't know what industry or career they want to pursue - temping gives you the opportunity to sample a wide array of jobs, and hopefully find out what is the right career choice for you.
So, is that short-term position really such a bad option?
